AACOMAS
American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine Application Service
AACOMAS is a centralized application service for applying to Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine similar to the service AMCAS provides for allopathic medical schools. The application service allows students to submit one application that is verified and then submitted to the medical schools the applicant designates.

How much does it cost to submit an AACOMAS application?
You only need to complete one application; AACOMAS will send it to the medical schools that you have designated. The application fee with AACOMAS is based on a graduated scale and the total cost depends on the number of schools you are applying to. For instance: Applying to 1 school costs $155, 2 schools $190, 3 schools $220 and so on up to 20 schools $ 680. The fee is an additional $25 for each school beyond 20.

When do I apply?
Students wishing to apply to medical school begin the application process a year before matriculating. For instance, if you plan on entering medical school in the summer after you graduate ie. summer of 2008, you need to apply BEFORE you enter your senior year (summer of 2007). The relevant dates for the College of Medicine at UAMS are listed in the table below. This also includes the deadline for submission of completed application materials to the Premedical Advisory Committee at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville.
AMCAS will begin accepting web applications on June 1. AMCAS only provides an on-line application pro, available at: www.amcas.org .
AACOMAS
AACOM is the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine. The centralized application service students use to apply to osteopathic medical schools is AACOMAS (American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine Application Service).The on-line application and instructions can be accessed through the AACOM web site, www.aacom.org .
In the same way that AMCAS functions, students can make one initial application for a variety of osteopathic medical schools. Currently there are 19 Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine in the United States (see Table below).
